If you have a Twitter account, you might’ve noticed something a
lot little different today:
What are thoooooooose! ::Points at heart in tweet::

On the right side, next to the “reply” and “retweet” buttons is a new friend: a heart. No longer can you “favorite” something on Twitter — you now must “like” things.
“We want to make Twitter easier and more rewarding to use, and we know that at times the star could be confusing, especially to newcomers. You might like a lot of things, but not everything can be your favorite,” Twitter said on their blog. “The heart, in contrast, is a universal symbol that resonates across languages, cultures, and time zones. The heart is more expressive, enabling you to convey a range of emotions and easily connect with people. And in our tests, we found that people loved it.”

But does the general public love it? Well, opinions are mixed … to negative.
Twitter. You're dead to me. I don't like change. Wait… love hearts? #REJOYCE

Either way, we’ll have to get to know the new heart across many social media platforms, because Twitter also said they’re delighted to bring them to Twitter “and Vine, making them the common language for our global community.” So start saying your goodbyes to the beloved Vine smiley as well.
Farewell, favorites — you touched our hearts for a time.
