It’s been two years since Kid Rock declared himself Born Free with an album of widescreen rock anthems about the majesty of the good ol’ U.S.A.
On November 19, the American Badass will be back with Rebel Soul, his just-announced ninth studio album. Not much is known about the disc at the moment, but the first single, “Let’s Ride,” is due out at radio any day now, according to Rock’s label.
The self-produced disc is described as “a return to form for Rock, who, with this album, cements his place as the premier genre-hopping rock and roller of all time.” Additional information on a tour will be released soon. In between sessions for the album, Rock has been sporadically stumping for GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney.
While Rock has not specifically endorsed Republican candidate and fellow Detroit native Romney, he has allowed the former Massachusetts governor to use “Born Free” at his campaign rallies. In August, Rock joined Romney on stage at the Oakland Hills Country Club for a campaign fundraiser and he performed at the Republican National Convention last month.
Rock has kept the sessions for this album under tight wraps, but he has kept fans updated on his official site, posting a picture Friday under the headline “Taking a Break,” which depicted him in his hunting gear wielding a shotgun. “Taking a much needed break after wrapping up the new album,” he wrote.
While Rock’s faithful wait for the new music, they can check out a song he co-wrote on country singer Dwight Yoakam‘s new album, 3 Pears entitled “Take Hold of My Hand.”
