After Superstorm Sandy left Seaside Heights with damages at an estimated $1 billion, the cast of “Jersey Shore” is asking you to help those affected by the disaster.
“We’re spreading a PSA right now to text ‘REDCROSS’ to 90999,” Vinny Guadagnino told MTV News. “You can donate like $10, and I think if a lot of people do that it will make impacts.”
Funds from this relief effort will focus on meeting people’s immediate emergency needs such as shelter, food and health services. The Red Cross also helps feed emergency workers, handles inquiries from concerned family members outside the disaster area, and provides blood and blood products to victims. They’re services that Guadagnino says are vital to the residents of Seaside Heights.
“New Jersey and especially Seaside is just destroyed,” he explained. “I’ve never had anything like this happen to me, like, I know every business owner on the boardwalk personally, you know, and, like, they’re good people, they all are hard-working people.”
After spending four of six seasons taping there, the boardwalk, which made Snooki and the Situation household names, became a second home to the 24-year-old from Staten Island. And even though the hit show is in its final season, the MTV star is confident he will be back to the shore very soon.
“We’re all going to come together and hopefully rebuild it,” Guadagnino said. “Praying that next summer it will still be a place we can go back to and party but now is a good time for everyone to come together and be humanitarian and rebuild.”
