Leah and Corey’s relationship was put to the ultimate test at the end of last season’s “Teen Mom 2” after she admitted to cheating, and when we picked up with the couple on tonight’s Season 3 premiere, the tension between the two was as potent as ever. To Leah’s surprise, Corey showed up at one of Ali’s doctor appointments, and things immediately got pretty awkward. “I guess there were still feelings there,” she explains in this clip from our first “Teen Mom 2 After Show” of the season. “We have these two beautiful little girls together, and it was just, like–it was just hard to be in the same room with each other.”
Even though their divorce was just about finalized, Leah suggested they try marriage counseling, but it ended as abruptly as it began, and nothing involving the couple’s issues was resolved. As the moms discuss the perils of working through emotions with their beaus in the video below, Kailyn interjects with an observation about Corey’s behavior that resonates with the whole group. “I just feel like he just never spoke up about how he really felt.” It’s unfortunate that Corey was never able to express himself fully, because the ability to share both the good and bad is integral to any healing process, which could have ultimately saved their relationship.
