We all have those friends that lead us on the right path when it comes to trying new things… whether it’s suggesting a new band to check out or recommending a must-see movie, these people help influence your daily thought processes by suggesting new and compelling content for us to absorb. Content that, you begin to ask yourself: how did I ever make the mistake of living without this wonderful game, TV show, etc.?
In the spirit of paying it forward I want to be that friend to you. Don’t wait any longer to immerse yourself in the following three things that helped shape my 2012!
You probably have seen the ads on TV for Assassins Creed III… a hooded man running through the woods, inflicting pain on British soldiers during the American Revolution. I had always heard about this game series; however, until recently, I never sat down and gave the game a chance. After numerous recommendations from my co-workers (constant hounding, really…) I finally decided to try it… and man am I glad that I decided to take the plunge. I became a major addict… playing it until the wee hours of the morning, dreaming about it overnight. I would even wake up early before work to get a few hours in… to get a fix, if you will. In just over a month, I crushed through ACII, AC Brotherhood and AC Revelations, just in time for the release of ACIII. That, people, is a lot of gaming. Take my word for it, if you are looking for a new video game franchise to take over your life, I HIGHLY recommend you give the ‘Assassins Creed’ series a try.
After Season One of Homeland wrapped up in 2011, a good friend of mine lent me his copy of the show. It’s pretty sad to admit, but it took Homeland beating the legendary Breaking Bad for ‘Best Drama’ at the Emmys before I took the show seriously. Anything that could usurp the crown from the intense path to darkness of Walter White was something that I needed to see. Cut to a few months later, season two is coming to an end shortly – and I am officially hooked. Do yourself a favour… get on the Homeland bandwagon, ASAP.
The self-serve froyo craze is a gift from the gods! If you haven’t treated your palate yet to either of the above Frozen Yogurt chains you are missing out. Putting the power in your hand, you can sample any flavor you want, determine how much you want, mix the flavours into deliciously forbidden concoctions (Root Beer/Cotton Candy anyone?) and then top it all off with enough candy to make Willy Wonka uncomfortable. Regardless of the weather outside, you need to try this stuff; your taste buds will thank you.
Don’t make the same mistakes I did and wait around to taste these ‘forbidden fruits’… you still have time to check them out before the new year! Hit the comments to let us know what pop culture nuggets had you begging for more in 2012!
